Casper/Natrona County International Airport had a momentous 2024 with the strongest passenger count since 2015. Ending the year just shy of 100,000 passengers, we can’t help but anticipate that 2025 will continue to carry the momentum forward. C/NCIA is more than an airport; thanks to continued support from our community, Natrona County, and the State, we are thrilled to share several 2024 achievements, highlighted in our Annual Report.
Looking Back on 2024
At just over $12 million, we resurfaced our crosswind runway, 8/26, replacing the runway lights, adding a new visual landing aid, and installing in-pavement runway sensors. Together with the BLM and U.S. Forest Service, we finished construction of the new SEAT/LAT base to support wildfire fighting in Wyoming. Additionally, we completed 60% of the design for the new Air Traffic Control Tower, seal coated and marked all asphalt pavement, finished the last phase of the terminal building roof replacement, and, while we were not selected, we were runner-up for hosting the National Championship Air Races and are grateful that our community and State supported our application efforts.
Looking Ahead in 2025
C/NCIA expects a busy 2025, with several ongoing improvement projects and many new initiatives launching. We aim to secure the full $28 million funding needed for the Air Traffic Control Tower project, which will enable us to finalize the design and begin construction in 2026. Knowing the importance of snow removal at the Airport, we are thrilled to begin taking bids for the expansion of the Airport’s Snow Removal Equipment and Maintenance Facility this year.
Additionally, we anticipate beginning construction of the new Helitack base, acquiring a new Automated Weather Observation System, overseeing new hangar development, renewing several business lease agreements, and further strengthening our partnerships with airlines that will benefit the Casper community. Most importantly, we remain committed to actively listening to our community’s needs so that we can continue to respond effectively in 2025 and beyond.
More Than an Airport
At C/NCIA, we strive to be more than an airport. We focus on the people, places, and qualities that define us as a key economic force in the heart of Wyoming. Our commitment is to meet your travel needs while providing services and facilities that empower Wyoming’s business and residential communities to thrive.
