It may be back to school for a lot of people, but at the Airport, the flight school is never out of session! We are more than an airport; we are the training grounds for Wyoming’s up-and-coming pilots. You probably aren’t surprised to hear that Casper’s flight school, Rising Wings Aviation, is located at the Airport; but did you know that C/NCIA was formerly the Casper Army Air Base (decommissioned after WWII)? This provided our current Airport infrastructure with two very long and wide runways that are conducive to training flight students in all wind directions and weather conditions.
Locally owned and operated, Rising Wings Aviation is a flight school that provides private, instrument, and commercial fixed-wing flight training. Rising Wings Co-Owner and Manager, Brian Parke, adds to the benefits of learning to fly in Casper saying,
“Our students get to experience all types of weather, especially the wind here in Casper, making our location unique over other flight school locations. The East-West orientation of Casper Mountain provides a wind flow that gives our students the advantage of learning to fly in high and low wind environments year-round, which is essential to becoming a successful pilot. Plus, Rising Wings is easy to get to because Casper’s airport is close, quick and easy with little traffic delays compared to other airports.”
Just like the instructors and students at Rising Wings, we are beyond grateful for our Federal Air Traffic Controllers at C/NCIA. Not only does this allow for smooth commercial and freight operations, but it provides opportunity for the Rising Wings students to easily immerse themselves in their flights and become highly proficient into one of the most intimidating parts of the flight training process (talking to the control tower).
