According to Expedia’s Holiday Outlook, year-over-year flight searches for Christmas travel are up by 20%. What does this mean for you? It means more people will be flying over the holidays, so don’t wait any longer to book your flights. At C/NCIA, we suggest booking flights for Thanksgiving and Christmas now as seats become limited and prices rise with growing demand and decreasing supply.

As you peruse flights and start planning, here are our three specific holiday travel booking tips:

  1. To avoid crowds, consider flying on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, or around New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
  2. Look for deals on midweek flights and explore bundling flights with accommodations (hotels, rental cars, etc.).
  3. Be flexible with your travel plans and be open to different dates and destinations if your budget is tight (i.e., flying into Milwaukee instead of Chicago).

Holiday travel requires thoughtful planning and consideration, especially when it comes to budgeting. However, there is more to travel than just the cost of your airline ticket, including travel time to and from the airport, parking, fuel, highway tolls, wear and tear on your vehicle, and possible lodging, which all add up.  We understand there are times when flying out of another airport may seem more cost-effective; however, before booking, compare all the costs associated with flying from Casper or Denver before booking your ticket.

“We’re proud to be a close and convenient option for our community, plus when you fly out of Casper, you don’t have to stress about winter road conditions when traveling for the holidays,” says C/NCIA Director Glenn Januska.

For those with air travel plans already secured, double-check rental car reservations, and consider travel insurance to protect your flights in case of illness, winter storms, or other unforeseen circumstances.
