The Casper/Natrona County International Airport Board of Trustees honored former U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer, Dale Leatham, in a ceremony dedicating the U.S. Customs office at the Airport in his name. The ceremony was held on October 18th, 2024, just five months after his unexpected passing. Dale was integral to Airport operations and was a beloved member of the Airport team for nearly 50 years.
Dale began his dedicated, full-time career at the Airport after working for several airlines and air service companies including Alaska Airlines, Western Airlines, Delta Air Lines, World Wide Travel, and SkyWest Airlines. In 1975 Dale served as an Officer with the U.S. Customs Service and later with U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Serving at Wyoming’s only international airport, Dale made himself available in his role any day and at any time.
“If there is one thing Dale was known for at the Airport, it was his outstanding customer service. Each day he brought a smile, his years of knowledge and experience, and diligent screening processes as he cleared international flights landing in Casper. Over the years, he built relationships with frequent passengers he cleared to land in the U.S., knowing many of them on a first name basis.”
Glenn Januska, Airport Director
“Dale made an immeasurable impression on countless people for over four decades as the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer. There truly will be no other like Dale.”
Kermit Wille, Airport Board of Trustees
The naming ceremony brought together nearly 40 people who knew and loved Dale, including family members, Airport staff, and other community members who appreciated Dale’s years of service. Aptly named after him, the U.S. Customs office will never be the same without his warm and welcoming presence. Dale will truly be missed by all, and it is the Airport Board’s hope to honor and remember him often as each international flight lands in Casper.
