Got sunshine on your mind? Us too. As many Wyomingites prepare for Spring Break, the anticipation for sun, warmth, and relaxation is hard to resist. If you have a flight booked to a sunnier destination (if you don’t, book your last-minute flight now!), keep reading for our top seven Spring Break safety tips for 2025.

Travel Safety Tips:

  1. Research your destination. Know before you go so you’re well-prepared for your destination. Read travel reviews, know safe neighborhoods or high-crime areas, and where you can go in the case of an emergency.
  2. Don’t share your location. During your trip, keep your travels quiet on social media. Avoid posting information or photos about where you’re staying, the dates you’ll be gone, and where you’re traveling. Instead, update your friends and family on your vacation once you have returned home.
  3. Practice hotel safety. Tell someone you trust at home the name and address of the hotel where you’re staying. Additionally, always keep your door locked, stow important belongings in a safe, and don’t tell new acquaintances your hotel or room number.
  4. Carry cash. In a separate place from your credit cards, keep cash with you in the unfortunate event your wallet or credit cards get stolen.
  5. Use the buddy system. Whether you’re traveling with your partner or you’ve got family and friends to accompany you, never venture out alone. In the event you do get separated, establish a meeting place in advance.
  6. Stay sun safe. You aren’t in Wyoming anymore! We’ve been hibernating here in the Cowboy State so don’t forget to practice sun safety by wearing sunscreen and staying hydrated.
  7. Be prepared for international travel. If you’re traveling to another country over Spring Break (exciting!), be sure to notify your credit and debit card companies, know what to do in an emergency, look up where the nearest U.S. Embassy is, and take a copy of your passport. PRO TIP: It is also important to contact your cell phone provider to find out if there is an additional cost for international phone calls or texts.
